Gali Yarom, Co-Founder, Co-CEO of Better Juice, 10 most Empowering Women Leaders of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

During her career, Gali Yarom has served in roles traditionally held by and surrounded by men, such as plant managers. In this role, she was directly responsible for 400 employees and planning and leading a greenfield project – building a massive new factory. The Co-Founder & Co- CEO, Better Juice, has often dealt with the uncomfortable feeling in the room as the only female in the meeting; things like men’s jokes and often being ignored or overlooked during professional discussions. “I needed to be first everywhere, or at least one of the most noteworthy in professionalism and expertise just to achieve the right level of attention,” she says. “I have needed to fight for an equal salary and not to feel I was at a disadvantage compared to males in the same hierarchy. I believe that any promotion that I have had would have happened some years ago had I been a man. But having said that, I think that I’m a good example of reaching your target, ignoring the male/female status, and achieving your destiny.”

According to Gali, one needs to do the best wherever they are and as much as possible. “As an entrepreneur, it is important to dream big – as big as you can; to feel and to believe that you will change the world,” she elucidates. “But at the same time, you have to proceed and constantly evaluate step by step, and have a practical “down to earth of your dream” to push for execution. You must try all the time to remind yourself that you need to serve your investors and not to waste their money and their trust.” This ideology has been incorporated by Gali’s mother, who is also her role model. She is a doctor of medicine (lung expert) and a wonderful woman! She worked very hard and provided her children with the ability to do/ learn/ leave/ travel wherever and whenever they wanted. “My mom also shines in the areas of friends and culture. She is well-traveled and has seen the world. She’s a curious person who always attempts to learn new things. Mom understands that the most important things are our family and her grandchildren, so she insists on giving them as much as she can in her lifetime.” Armed with this unique support, Gali has been taking the company to new heights.

Better Juice Ltd. is the first food tech startup to introduce innovative technology to reduce all sugars in orange juice. The patent-pending technology uses all-natural ingredients to convert monosaccharides and disaccharides (fructose, glucose, and sucrose) into prebiotic and other non-digestible fibers and sugars while keeping the beverage’s juicy flavor.

“Need a change towards better health. We feed your creative souls with sugar-less, fiber-rich juice With the introduction of new disruptive technology”

Better Juice harnesses a natural enzymatic activity in non-GMO microorganisms to convert a portion of the fruit sugars into fibers and other non-digestible natural sugars. The solution inserts a simple pass-through step in the juicing process, preserving the great flavor and the fruits’ full complement of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, suitable for high-end industrial systems and restaurants.

Better Juice’s most important claim is that they fight against the top 21st century diseases: diabetes and obesity. They treat all-natural sugar types, though they focus on the juice. However, they can also treat honey, maple syrup, and even milk. “We have a technological solution for the industry to tackle its sugar content problem. We can treat all kinds of fruit flavors, and even reduce sugar by up to 80%, which also reduces the calories by 60%. Our enzymes are non-GMO, and we even enrich the product with dietary fiber,” she says.

Gali and her team are revolutionizing the juice industry by attacking the hot sugar disease that causes diabetes and obesity by improving nature naturally. “We are not another sugar replacer. We reduce the sugar from the source and enrich the product by our enzyme activity,” she explains. “Our big achievement will be when everyone can enjoy the benefits of our products right from their local supermarkets. We are commercializing our product. We will have our first installation this coming January, and it is so exciting!” IEWL

AI and Healthcare: The Investment Landscape

A recent report from Silicon Valley Bank put numbers to what a glance around the industry would have clearly revealed: Investments in healthcare companies leveraging AI and machine learning are hot, hot, hot. Between 2015 and the first six months of 2017, venture deals raised a whopping $2.2 billion. The analysis focused on three kinds of AI technology to determine which was the top attraction for investors— Diagnostic Tests (DX tests) that yield yes or no results, Research and Development tools, and DX or Tools that use data analytics to help guide treatment. As you can see, from the results in Figure 1, the latter is the clear winner, yet all categories show impressive growth.

Examples of AI in Healthcare, Present and Future

It’s clear the funding is there, so what are companies doing with it? Let’s look at a few specific examples of how AI is going to revolutionize healthcare, both now and what it might look like in the future:

• Detecting hypertension and sleep apnea via a wearable. Healthtech company Cardiogram—a business that, according to the founder, applies deep learning to medicine—has developed DeepHeart, a neural network technology that can be utilized on wearables like Apple Watches, Garmins, Androids, and even Fitbits. The goal of DeepHeart is to detect conditions like hypertension and sleep apnea—and, according to a study of the technology, it works. The study found it was 82 percent accurate when detecting hypertension. In addition, it was an impressive 90 percent accurate when detecting sleep apnea—a risk sometimes increased for women during menopause. A key point here is that both hypertension and sleep apnea are conditions that can often go undetected for some time, so DeepHeart provides peace of mind, right on your wrist. The findings of the report are so promising they were recently presented to the American Heart Association.

• Providing support in between visits to the doctor. Startup sensely has created a virtual nurse, Molly, who provides care for patients between doctor appointments. Molly services patients with chronic conditions, so cutting time in the office can save serious dollars and resources. Thanks to her vast neural networks, Molly gives customized advice, too—no canned, cold responses here.

• Making the complex world of medical records more efficient. The healthcare industry is chock full of data point after data point, record after record, including payment information, highly detailed medical records, and personal patient information including addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, and more. This data conglomeration is called ePHI, and, although records are now required to be digital, that doesn’t mean they’re always easy to mine. (Sidebar: Read: Telemedicine and the Future of Healthcare for more on how important it is to protect ePHI.) The Google DeepMind Health project aims to fix that and then some, examining data from entire medical records—including test results—to improve patient care and help providers boost speed and efficiency. Imagine this scenario: What if AI could scan your test results, compare it with your medical history found in your record, and not only determine your risk for a particular condition, but even recommend a course of action—all, obviously, in seconds, not days or weeks? The technology to revolutionize healthcare in this way is on the horizon and is currently being tested at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

• Improving precision medicine. AI has the potential to change not just how patients are treated, but also the intricacies of common conditions at a molecular and genomic level, allowing researchers to better understand how to treat and identify common ailments. Deep Genomics, a Toronto startup, for example, aims to use AI to create genetic therapies. Their powerful mission statement reads, in part, “Our founding belief is that the future of medicine will rely on artificial intelligence, because biology is too complex for humans to understand.” A lofty statement, but one that’s looking more valid development-by-development. AI is also being used in precision medicine by companies like Human Longevity, a costly service that combines full body scans and complete genome sequencing to predict or identify very early a patient’s risk of vascular disease or cancer.

There’s more where that came from. As always, my colleagues and I will keep an eye on future AI advancements that will revolutionize healthcare—and there will be many. Stay tuned.

Yvonne Hofstetter, CEO & Co-Founder of 21strategies, Most Admired WomenLeaders of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Prof. Yvonne Hofstetter is the CEO and co-founder of 21strategies, a startup that innovates financial market risk hedging using AI technology. With Dr. Christian Brandlhuber and Dr. Scott Muller as partners, she set out to develop and market an AI-based algorithmic decision-making solution for CFSs and treasurers. Yvonne has worked on artificial intelligence for a number of well-known companies around the world for more than 20 years. She is enthusiastic about bringing ideas to life and sees the potential of Artificial Intelligence. Yvonne Hofstetter was raised in a family of independent architects, and from childhood on she learned and saw what entrepreneurship means. She was independent throughout her entire life, and only for a period of three years, she worked as an employee at the second management level – in fact, for a US company. Professor Yvonne Hofstetter’s publications cover topics such as digitization and politics, as well as technology effect assessment. As a result, they contain political and even philosophical overtones, but they are intended for all citizens.

Prof. Yvonne Hofstetter states, “I am a risk-taker personally.” It’s ingrained in my personality that I’m pushing boundaries. I like to experiment with new approaches and rely on them. Consider the event that prompted me to begin writing nonfiction books about technology and politics. Frank Schirrmacher, the former and now deceased editor of Germany’s largest daily newspaper interviewed me in 2013 about AI-based command and control systems. “You should write a book,” he suggested to me in the elevator after the interview. You’re familiar with how these systems operate. I’m just a reporter. But you’re believable because you’re doing exactly what I’m writing about.”I began writing the next day. I didn’t have a publisher, no understanding of how the publishing industry operated, and no notion of how a best-selling book would impact my life. Frank Schirrmacher died of a heart attack a year later, and a long-time supporter had died unexpectedly. However, this did not prevent all of the events that occurred as a result of the decision to write. The wave was crashing, and I believed I was going to drown in this totally different day-to-day life than I had known as a CEO. The fact that I founded 21strategies in March 2020, right in the middle of the first Corona lockdown. Others had to close their doors; we decided to start our own firm. That’s what I call foresight. Of sure, it was well-considered.

The objective of 21strategies is to assist organizations in making better decisions in the face of uncertainty. 21strategies uses, builds, and operates deep tech and next-gen AI for real-life circumstances in the three areas where it excels: defense, capital markets, and business supply chains, in order to achieve its purpose. Yvonne and her colleagues, for example, don’t regard 21strategies as the “next AI tool supplier.” They don’t see themselves as a software company; instead, 21strategies wants to internalize its deep tech for the most efficient and AI-powered commodities risk management within geo-economic constraints. It is self-evident that commodity supply will be a major subject of this decade. The document gives a foretaste of what may still come due to a shortage of microchips, wood, and steel. As a result, 21strategies is recognized as a technological predecessor of a future readily AI-powered Cooperative Society owned and operated by massive corporations in need of commodities for their manufacturing, with the benefits of AI-controlled commodity risk shared by its member companies.

In the upcoming years, 21strategies will support the Future Combat Mission System, a consortium that brings together critical technologies for next-generation fighter planes with unmanned wingmen. And 21strategies will begin combining its capital market risk management concepts with its team’s activities for the Department of Defense – all with the goal of securing commodity supply in the future, not just through cash-settled instruments, but also physically, and in all cases using its next-generation AI. Yvonne Hofstetter is one of the most exceptional women CEOs due to her stringent innovation management, strong strategic focus, and expertise, as well as her role as CEO of 21strategies. IEWL

Hema Niranjan, MD of Dezign Code, Top 10 Inspiring Women Leaders of 2022 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Hema Niranjan is a 35-year-old entrepreneur with a heart that believes in giving. She has a vibrant persona and a confident, go-getter attitude. With the right intent and aptitude, it is phenomenal to see how Hema has honed her skills and carved a place for herself in this competitive world.

Hema strongly believes that not everyone is born with business skills, but with the right passion, thorough involvement, and constant creative thought, everyone can master business management skills. Apart from being an able business woman, she is a highly efficient mother. She finds time to play that role effortlessly between running a restaurant and an Interior Design firm with utmost passion and dedication. She has mastered the art of striking the perfect balance between being a woman in business and a loving mother to her daughter. Her coworkers describe her as a fierce businesswoman who transforms the lives of everyone she comes across. Armed with these skills, Hema has made her ventures quite successful.

DEZIGN CODE is unique in upbeat designs, quality services and best customizations to the Indian inetrior designing market. Themes like Pirates, village , ship etc. across major cities like Goa , Bangalore, Hyderabad are unique .

Hema started a unique Army themed Restaurant called HUNGER CAMP in 2019 along with her business partner CHETAN PATEL.

“Because we believe every idea is worth exploring and every desire can be turned into a tangible experience! We are one of those rare passionate designers who say “Hurray” whenever you make a customisation request. We take pride in our approach which sets aside the cliched cookie cutter mentality – unlike many others in the industry who have just “modular” solutions!”

Hunger camp is one of its kind army themed restaurant in Bangalore celebrating the spirit of the Indian army, and to pay tribute to martyrs of our soil. Also, they have Registered an NGO on the same name to help the familiars of martyrs.

Hema Niranjan comes from a rural and traditional family. Opportunities to study were scarce and women venturing into business from such families is seen as crossing over the boundaries. It was tough terrain for her and she had to do a lot more convincing of people around to take them in her stride, which she successfully did. She had no knowledge of business back then and no family business background. Her father is a government school teacher and her mother is homemaker.

Hema has done MA, majoring in English from KSOU. She got married at the age of 21 and soon had a kid. Her husband NIRANJAN (Flying ECMO specialist ) has supported her desire to study interior designing courses at Jain university, Bengaluru and won “Academic Excellence Award ” in the year 2016 and secured a distinguished alumni Award in the following year.

She has really worked her way by putting in effort and honing skills. She had to shoulder the responsibility of her little daughter for six years during the initial years of business being set up. She played the roles of both a father and a mother to her kid when her husband was working abroad. Facing all these odds was not easy job, especially being a woman, one should have a lot of grit, determination and passion.

Hema encourages her kid MAANVI PATEL to have creative experiences in the field of Acting and modelling, Art, Dance, Sports along with education. Maanvi Patel does modelling for famous brands like Byju’s, MAX, FBB etc. She has groomed her kid with the same kind of upbringing Hema received from her parents : good values. Giving back to society is one of her rituals. Recently, Maanvi donated 50,000 INR from what she earned from her modelling assignments towards CM COVID relief fund.

Hema is a support system for female business owners who are trying hard to establish themselves. “Life hasn’t been easy for women, but when one reads about successful women it acts like the wind beneath their wings,” says Hema, who sets an example to young, married, and aspirational women by showing that nothing is beyond determination, grit, and passion. Elaine Yedlin C00 of Johnston Shaw Inc, 10 most Empowering Women Leaders of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Elaine is an insurance industry veteran who spent over a decade with corporate clients on the design, strategy, execution, and management of their benefit and retirement programs. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a double major in Computer Science and Actuarial Science and followed that by achieving her ASA and ACIA designation in 2011. She started her career at DOT Benefits Consulting, later NFP, and quickly became one of the lead consultants for Canadian and international benefit clients and ran the Toronto benefits office. Elaine brings a strong dedication, work ethic, and creativity to her clients and understands the unique needs each may face when creating programs for their own populations and balancing cost drivers.

Elaine says “I find that to be successful in any role you need to value the product or service you are providing. It is very easy to put time and effort into something you believe in and into organizations and teams that are collaborative, that acknowledge everyone’s contributions, be they coming from the top-level executive or from the junior admin clerk. Regardless of title, seniority, gender, or age everyone has the ability to meaningfully contribute and if they see that those contributions are acknowledged – and I don’t only mean through pay – they are more willing to put that extra effort in.”

“At Johnston Shaw Inc, we provide insurance planning, implementation and unparalleled service all with a singular focus on client values and transparency.”

JSI is a boutique Toronto-based insurance brokerage and consultancy. JSI specializes in estate planning, individual insurance for professionals, and corporate group benefit and retirement plans. JSI models its services to clients on 3 pillars – Professional Advice, Unparalleled Service, and Claims Management. JSI aspires to be a partner in all aspects of insurance, from understanding and identifying needs, to properly placing and managing same. JSI aims to offer transparency and clarity to an industry that is still shrouded in secrecy, especially when it comes to broker remuneration and carrier pricing. The JSI team believes that by telling the truth and doing the right thing for clients, everyone will be able to win and succeed.

While backed by individuals with a lot of industry experience, JSI itself is new in this space, having opened its doors in July of 2020. However, in that short time, it has been able to become one of the top living benefits sellers for Canada Life in Canada and has continued to grow a substantial client base through old and new relationships. This says a lot about what clients consider valuable, as well as the kind of service and assistance JSI, provides.

Employees can make or break a business, so providing them with the correct insurance programs and benefits packages that alleviate their financial or personal concerns can result in happier, more engaged, and loyal workers. Absenteeism and presenteeism can be reduced with the correct programs in place. All of this is true, but none of this can happen if the initiatives implemented are unaffordable or pose a significant danger to the firm. JSI’s approach is to work with clients to discover the proper balance of services and costs while also establishing long-term success, security, and peace of mind programs.

Elaine says “I try not to get bogged down with feeling like I always have the answer. I believe that in order to be successful in any industry today you have to always be willing to learn new things and accept change and innovation as it occurs. You are never too old or ‘know enough’ to not be able to learn something new. Don’t be afraid of change, embrace it. Continue to seek out opportunities and don’t be afraid to put themselves forward. Put in the time, the work, and the effort and good things will come from that. The more you accomplish and the more you grow, the less power naysayers will have over you. ” Elaine’s natural leadership aptitude and her unwavering commitment to acquiring new skills in order to help clients and the firm achieve their objectives had made her a standout leader.
