Kristen Twining, Vice President of Firemon, Most Inspiring WomenLeaders of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Kristen Twining, Vice President of Business Development Inside Sales, FireMon, has been instrumental in bringing energy, culture, and success to the Inside Sales team at FireMon. Since joining FireMon in September of 2020, Kristen has been a change agent who has helped to build a successful team of business development and sales reps. Through process, structure, and enablement, Kristen has driven accountability and skill development within her team , in which has yielded positive results and a winning culture. Her energy, passion, and excitement inspire not only her direct team but her peers and coworkers alike. She is creative, fun, and engaging and holds her team accountable, and is results-oriented. She believes strongly in helping her team understand the why behind their goals, metrics, and expectations to directly correlate how they, in turn, can make a positive impact on the company’s overall success. She leads by example, provides continuous on-the-spot coaching, and prides herself on developing her team to be successful, confident sales professionals.

“Kristen believes in the power of mentorship and has had many incredible mentors throughout her career. Her Mother, Dan, Tony, and Brian to name a few, have been instrumental in helping to shape Kristen into the successful professional she is today. She has learned hard and tough, yet valuable lessons from each. Most importantly, all of them believed in her and saw her potential which led to her ability to challenge herself, believe in who she could become, and constantly strive for more.”

Kristen was raised by a determined, strong, and high-powered mother who instilled female empowerment and confidence in her early on. An Environmental Health and Safety Engineer and the matriarch of her family, Kristen’s Mom, showed her that females could achieve both personal and professional success if they work hard, dream big, believe in themselves, and never give up. “I believe that us females can have it all if we truly take the time to reflect on what’s important in life and empower ourselves to find balance. In today’s society, there is a lot of pressure put on women to manage work, life, our well-being, family, and everything in between, making it at times seem overwhelming and impossible.”

Being vocal is one of Kristen’s strong suit. “Often times we as women are quiet and don’t ask for what we want, or what is needed to achieve our success and our goals from our bosses, our coworkers, or our companies,” she says. “We are fearful that if we ask, we will be viewed as weak. If we don’t ask, we won’t receive, and I learned that the hard way. Most of the time those around us are simply unconsciously blind to what is needed to create a productive, well balanced, female employee, and it is up to us to be vocal and stand up for ourselves and our needs.” Kristen is truly passionate about helping other women realize they too can have it all with the right mindset, a sense of humor, a strong network of supportive, like-minded females, and she leads the company with the same principles.

FireMon solves several fundamental and critical issues for customers, mostly large enterprises with very complex networks. Their products help clients secure their networks, ensure compliance with regulatory or corporate standards, and automate processes so that they can respond to change in an agile but secure fashion. “This has been our mission from day one and continues to guide our product and customer success initiatives.”

It’s no secret that today’s IT and Security leaders are grappling with massive digital transformation initiatives to make their businesses more responsive and customer-centric. The needs of this evolving landscape – coupled with an increasing number of security threats, the growing reliance on the cloud, and the rise of the distributed workforce – drive these executives to position themselves to maintain security and enable agility. The need for speed is also a driving factor for organizations to invest in security automation. “60% of companies say they’ll implement security orchestration and automation within 2 years and 97% of organizations have already invested in automated security policies to a degree.”

As per Kristen, it’s an exciting time in the market—network security is in the midst of a tectonic shift to more cloud-based technologies and zero trust approaches. “We’re adding to our product and services capabilities to help them make this transition while continuing to ensure the highest levels of security and compliance,” she says. “Expect to see some exciting technology announcements in the coming months. We’re continuing to invest in all geographies, but expect to significantly grow our presence in both Europe and Asia Pac.” IE

Petra Karmteg, COO of DNB Sweden, Best COOs of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Petra Karmteg, COO of DNB Sweden’s core focus has been on humans, agile transformation, and execution to transcend boundaries and generate sustainable growth. Her increased business focus and the capacity to form a unified and strong team have unlocked employee potential and ignited innovation in the Sweden organization. “The pandemic has served as an accelerator to long-term value creation, transformation isn’t really optional anymore, we have a new normal and so many opportunities lie ahead for us and for the whole financial industry,” says Petra. “I have always sought new ways of working, ways to increase the pace and be brave enough to innovate, there is no better time than now to explore the untapped potential of the post pandemic world.”

“Change and constant improvements is what drives me. Experienced leader – heading departments up to 100 employees and part of Management teams. I am described as a leader who points out a clear direction and coaches my employees to take own responsibility and find their own way under the direction that anything is possible.”

“In order to conquer the competition, our ambition is to become one of Europe’s leading technology companies,” adds Petra. Even though DNB is a bank, the new world of banking is undoubtedly digital, and as technology transforms the global payments landscape, the distance between banks and tech companies is shrinking quickly. “We need to be in the frontline of customer centric change, and ways of working is absolutely crucial here. People in finance are used to working based on historic numbers and exact information and that can be challenging when you need speed and new solutions. My job is to make sure that we can cope maintaining focus on regulatory and compliance but at the same time increase speed and look for new ways to conduct our business. Collaboration and a professional support/advisory function has been key to keep moving forward in Sweden.”

According to Petra, having an integrated digital payment infrastructure has opened up numerous possibilities for DNB and its customers. It will make everyone’s daily lives much easier, and the future-proof payment infrastructure will be a key to the Nordic integration. DNB is therefore preparing to make services and systems ready for a new common, modern, and secure infrastructure in the Nordic region. Many of DNB’s customers in Sweden have received banking services directly from Bankgirot. “Going forward they will receive them from us as a bank, providing these services in our new Corporate Payment Platform that has been developed,” says Petra. “To succeed, we in DNB have established our own Business Implementation project that will ensure a good and safe transition to new solutions.”

In 2021 the company gained a stronger position than ever before. It is one of the most financially sound banks in Europe, making them well equipped to tackle uncertainty and support their customers by providing financing for continued sustainable growth. DNB was recently appointed number one globally on gender equality which, of course, is a great acknowledgment. “We have come a long way as this has been a priority in the board and group management and it is a strategic and business-critical decision. We have been working systematically with ambitious objectives and it is fantastic to see the results,” says Petra. “Inclusion is also an important theme. This is of course as business critical as gender balance, the more diverse team, the better decisions, the better results. We need this as an organization that wants to deliver on business objectives, our employees expect us to create an inclusive and diverse working environment and of course, our customers demand this. It’s not that it is the right thing to do, it’s the only thing to do.”

As a steadfast COO, she says that the COO’s of today need to understand the business and its needs to create a team of business advisors with high capacity. High service levels and efficient processes are fundamental, but you bring real value to the organization as business advisors. “The COO-role is often varied and a reflection on the challenges and complexities of running a successful business in the industry you’re in,” says Petra. “It can be tasks like helping to build a winning culture for employees or dealing with pressure from investors and staying ahead of the competition, the COO is often the CEOs co-driver in the race for success helping to deal with challenges and navigating in the everyday business life.” IE

Susan K. Maue, Managing Director of PharmaLex, Best WomenLeaders of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Susan K. Maue, Managing Director, PharmaLex, took the reins of PharmaLex US in July 2020 after a 20+ year career in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Susan brought PharmaLex her passion for consulting and building strong teams committed to working with pharma, biotech, and MedTech companies to bring life-changing products to patients. This patient focus guides Susan and her team each day – knowing that there is a parent, a child, a friend, a loved one – who benefits from the work of PharmaLex. She takes pride in knowing that although one will never see the name PharmaLex on a product label, the PharmaLex team is behind the scenes guiding research for product discovery and development; sharing expertise that helps clients to navigate the ever-changing regulatory landscape; and providing services that ensure the quality, consistency, and safety of healthcare products brought to market.

Over the last year, Susan has brought increased attention to product commercialization, because product development and approval don’t guarantee patient access. By bringing the right experts to the table who understand the complexity of reimbursement and the importance of having real-world evidence to drive payer and prescriber decisions, PharmaLex supports clients in bringing their products to market, helping to improve lives around the globe.

Transformation comes from inspiring a team to aim higher and to actively drive progress. When assuming her role as Managing Director, Susan shared the following quote, reminding everyone that leadership is not about placement on an org chart. “Leadership is pursuit – pursuit of excellence, of elegance, of truth, of what’s next, of what if, of change, of value, of results, of relationships, of service, of knowledge, and of something bigger than ourselves.” ~Unknown

Susan engages with women across industries and throughout her community, serving as a mentor in formal and informal relationships. She also participates on various leadership panels at conferences and welcomes opportunities to speak at local schools. She loves inspiring others, particularly young women, to aim higher. One of the main questions that Susan receives is, “how difficult was it to choose a career over family?” The short answer – she didn’t have to. This is a point that Susan regularly emphasizes to young women who struggle with this – if you want both, you don’t have to choose. It is possible. Susan has invested heavily in her career but did so with a husband of 22 years and their four children. A few key points she shares:

• It does take hard work, and while it is not ever easy – it is well worth it!

• Find a company that values what’s important to you (i.e., family) and allows enough flexibility that enables you to balance both.

• Remember that quality is more important than quantity.

• Don’t think you have to do it all. By the time Susan’s children turn 12, they are responsible for cooking dinner. Real, well-balanced dinners. And for a small payment and a big thank-you, they are thrilled – and you can see that they take a lot of pride in contributing to the family in such an important way!

Some of the biggest challenges that life sciences companies face — namely getting products to market in compliance with government regulations – are being worked on at PharmaLex. PharmaLex was born out of a need to help pharmaceutical companies successfully meet the regulatory challenges of bringing products to market and helping them to maintain their product portfolios following launch. The company has vastly grown over the last two decades.

PharmaLex is an international solution provider that offers a full suite of specialized, regulated services. With a deep understanding of the market and the evolving regulatory landscape across the globe, PharmaLex remains on top of upcoming trends and challenges. “Consequently, we can guide our customers throughout the product lifecycle, and by lending our expertise, we can anticipate complex challenges that would otherwise delay time to market,” says Susan. “Furthermore, PharmaLex’s focus on technology-enabled solutions and software aids their customers in accelerated decision making while driving efficiency gains.” IEWL

Tiffany Rivers, VP of Marketing at iOFFICE, Most Inspiring WomenLeaders of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Tiffany Rivers’ drive to innovate comes from a true passion for helping the people she has come to know over her 15 years in the workplace management software industry. “I hear their frustrations about having to use a dozen different outdated systems to justify consolidating two buildings into one, or moving away from assigned seating,” she states. “This has made me even more determined to pro-vide solutions to improve space planning, technology integrations, data analytics, operations, and the overall employee experience.” She is constantly learning from customers, industry analysts, and em-ployees to stay ahead of emerging trends. “It takes a certain curiosity and a vision, but then you need to be able to inspire others to work with you to create solutions,” says Tiffany. “At iOFFICE, we are for-tunate to have a whole team of amazingly talented developers, account executives, customer support representatives, product managers, marketers and others who can turn that vision into a reality.”

One great example of this is Space-Right™, a new space planning solution developed to help custom-ers reconfigure their workplaces for physical distancing during the pandemic. This was their most pressing need, yet nothing like this existed before. “Our engineers and product development teams came up with the idea during a hackathon, and two months into the pandemic, we introduced a solu-tion that would not only help customers reopen offices safely, but also implement more flexible space strategies in the future,” she states.

“iOFFICE creates the most responsive, frictionless workplaces everywhere through space planning, employee experience, and asset management SaaS solutions.”

As the world recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, Tiffany, along with the entire talented team, will continue to expand their asset and workplace management solutions. “We are focused on providing enterprises with the solutions they need to reopen their offices safely, but many of these same solu-tions also support new ways of collaborating in the hybrid workplace,” she explains. “Space manage-ment software allows workplace leaders to reconfigure spaces and make them reservable which also makes it easier for them to plan for a variable number of employees coming into the office each day.” This is especially important for companies that are adopting flexible seating arrangements.

The company continues to explore solutions to improve strategic space planning by automating manu-al processes with machine learning and artificial intelligence. They are expanding their asset manage-ment solutions to streamline inspections, invoicing, vendor management, and other key areas. “While we support many industries, we are particularly focused on expanding solutions for corporate real es-tate, technology, financial, manufacturing, and construction,” she states.

According to Tiffany, facilities management has traditionally been a more male-dominated field, but that is changing, especially as the role has evolved to focus more on connecting people and technology and maintaining buildings and systems. That said, women who want to succeed as facilities leaders, as software pioneers, or as sales or marketing directors need to speak the language of their industry with confidence and use data to back up their recommendations. “I believe a leader’s greatest responsibil-ity is to give their team a clear vision, equip them with the skills and support they need to execute it, and let them amaze you,” explains Tiffany. “I’ve always tried to take this approach with the women on my own team and those I may influence in other areas of the organization. I set high standards for everyone I lead and I think they would all agree that I challenge them, but ultimately, I trust them to use their best judgement.”

What Tiffany loves about her job is being able to build relationships with customers and innovative workplace leaders all over the world. “It’s truly inspiring to hear what they’re doing to create a better experience for their employees, manage growth, and improve their processes,” she adds. “We share insights from them each week on our Workplace Innovator podcast, which is a great place to get inspi-ration from the best and brightest in just 20 minutes. If you’re curious to learn more about the future of work and the technology enabling it, I encourage you to tune in. And if you have a great story to tell, we’d love to have you as a guest!” IE

Giovanna Mingarelli CEO and Co-Founder of M&C Consulting, Most Successful Women Entrepreneurs of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

When Giovanna Mingarelli started M&C Consulting in 2010, she wanted the company to reflect the values she was raised on: trust, dignity, kindness, respect, and positivity. Now more than a decade later, these values remain the foundation of her work with clients worldwide, and as she leads her unique team of seasoned professionals across many industries.

“I have always been passionate about executing my clients’ goals, in terms of values and revenue generation and meeting their bottom line and increasing returns on investments. We accomplish our clients’ goals via several specialized services, including: executive branding, go-to-market strategies, crowdsourced awareness campaigns, and innovative digital communication and marketing strategies,” says Giovanna. “In our corporate social responsibility work, we focus on supporting the economic and political empowerment key audiences that include: Millennials (people between the ages of 18-35), Indigenous Peoples, and Women and girls. As a globally-minded leader, I seek ways for my clients to make their workplaces, communities, countries – and even the world – a better place, for all communities.”

To be a successful leader, she also believes it is essential to foster a positive culture in the workplace. “First and foremost, I have learned the power of listening over the years. Listening to your team can help you incorporate amazing and creative ideas into projects – and it can also help you find the right solutions to a problem. I believe in treating everyone on my team with respect and dignity,” she explains. “I have taken this approach to my management style, and it is a value that I champion as Canadian chair and the Chair of the Board of Directors for Global Dignity – a non-profit organization founded by HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway dedicated to uniting everyone with the belief that we all deserve to live a life of dignity.” Giovanna also believes in the power of diversity within an organization. “Often, I work across international borders and cultures and tirelessly network to gain fresh perspectives – which ultimately benefits my work, as well as my clients. Finally, I am always true to my word. I was always taught to never give up and always persevere. When I start a project, I always see it through to the end and remain dedicated to every project that crosses my desk.” All rooted in goodness and humility, these qualities have built M&C’s reputation as a trustworthy company that delivers excellent results.

The years when Giovanna was 18 to 25 years old were her most formative. During this period of her life, she established success in politics. “By the age of 20, I had worked my way up into the Prime Minister’s Press Office – a top job in the Canadian political world. In my mid-20s, I made the major decision to leave politics and start M&C Consulting. With a political background under my belt, this move could have been considered risky to some. But I always believed in myself, and had the confidence to know that I could also achieve success in the business world if I put my mind to it.”

Through her experience, Giovanna is very passionate about inspiring young women aged 18 to 25. That was the age where she made decisions that affected her at the time and still affect her deeply today.

According to the steadfast leader, these years are a very impressionable age, and it’s the time in a woman’s life where she makes choices about who she is and what she believes about herself. To this effect, Giovanna makes it her mission to mentor other women within her team and through volunteer opportunities and speaking engagements to help them grow, build confidence, and achieve success.

“Over the years, I have served as a mentor and role model at my alma mater, Carleton University, as well as on Women in Cloud’s board of directors, Cloud Exec Connect, and #EmpowHerAccess – an annual digital campaign by Women in Cloud to generate greater economic access for women in technology,” she says. “M&C also supports young women through QFLIP, the Queen’s Female Leadership in Politics Conference, as an event sponsor. We will be doing so again for their flagship event in 2022.” IEWL

Brenna Bagnaro, Director of Marketing and Client Relations of Polston Tax, Most Inspiring WomenLeaders of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Brenna Bagnaro is the Director of Marketing and Client Relations at Polston Tax Resolution & Accounting. Her charismatic personality positively represents Polston Tax and enables her to work well with the many organizations and agencies that work with Polston Tax. Brenna’s background in Public Relations is evident in all of her interactions, but she is also naturally gifted with ease to connecting with those who meet her.

Brenna helped transform Polston Tax because there wasn’t a marketing department or a client relations department when she started. She stepped up and took over those departments and started new projects that helped drive immense growth for the company. She helped make both marketing and client relations a priority for the company. She worked endlessly to help the company grow so it could reach more clients. She understood the stress that comes with taxes and wanted to make sure the company helped as many people as possible. “A lot of firms use scary or high-pressure sales tactics to try and force people to use their services, but I choose to go the route of letting future clients know we are here to help, that we’ll get in the ring with them,” says Brenna. “We made our marketing approaches more personable and able to really resonate with prospective clients on a deeper level, looking for new ways to market the company and other services being provided.”

She is also dedicated, and that dedication has become contagious to other employees. She is a positive force that helps the company continue to move forward. She is dependable through adversary, and whenever the company hits a roadblock, Brenna is there to help out whether it is coming up with ideas, working on implementing those ideas, or just being a soundboard to shoot ideas off of; she is always willing to be part of the solution, that is how she is taking the company to new heights.

Polston Tax was born because Rod Polston saw a great need in people who are dealing with tax issues. He was an estate attorney and saw many of his clients weren’t aware of the tax implications when leaving their estate to their families and that the stress of tax issues can weigh on people. Rod wanted to help people dealing with IRS tax issues because many of those people didn’t mean to owe taxes, they don’t know certain tax laws, or they don’t know how to defend themselves against a large agency like the IRS.

“We wanted to address some common misconceptions about owing taxes that most people don’t know or don’t understand. Most people don’t know that people who owe taxes usually don’t mean to or don’t do it on purpose.” she says. “We get a lot of clients who had to make the difficult choice of either paying their taxes on time or paying for medical treatment, paying their utilities or rent, or paying their employees. They didn’t have the money to pay both.” Brenna adds, “We see a lot of clients who don’t understand the tax laws and so they think they are paying enough taxes then find out they owe a large amount and aren’t able to pay it. We want them to know that they don’t have to tackle their tax issue alone, Polston Tax is here to help.

After 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic, Polston Tax is now thriving and feels unstoppable as they continue moving forward. “We’ve cleaned up so many messes caused by other firms that were either malicious, ignorant, or uneducated, and each life we change with financial freedom leaves us wanting to help 10 more,” she adds. “The more we grow as a company, the more people we can give that peace and freedom to. We’re beyond excited to continue to expand our reach beyond our current locations to give business owners and taxpayers hope and peace.” IEWL

Trisha Dohn Founder and CEO of Well365, Best Successful CEOs of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Trisha Dohn, Founder & CEO of Well365, is passionate about corporate wellness. From day one, her grit, determination, passion, and motivation has allowed Well365 to be what it is today. Trisha has empowered women with her unique ideology all through her career, “do not be afraid to fail. You have to move outside of your comfort zone. Failure is an inevitable part of success, from which we learn,” she says. “Don’t be afraid to accept feedback, because it is critical to validate your business. And most importantly, never stop learning! Although I have been in corporate wellness for 20 years, I continue to learn every day! I also learned quickly on during my entrepreneur days to surround myself with other like-minded people! Minimize the negative people who aren’t going to lift you up and support you!”

“We are an independent, corporate wellness company that understands wellness is more than healthcare costs. We understand that many companies are trying to implement wellness programs with their insurance carriers, yet may experience lack of flexibility, experience or solutions for engagement, outcomes, and long-term success. As a result, more programs fail than succeed.”

Trisha’s parents are at the forefront of being her role models, along with her husband and children. “My parents built a successful business 40 years ago and from an early age, I was surrounded by the skills it took to create your own success. They have been my support from the beginning and encourage me when I need extra motivation,” she says. Armed with these qualities, Trisha has been taking the company to new heights.

Well365 was created because Trisha identified a need for an independent, corporate wellness company that could serve as a one-stop shop for organizations locally, regionally, and nationally. Well365 is a small business that can be autonomous, flexible, and customize solutions with results for organizations in all industries. At Well365, their services complement one another and help provide the best possible outcomes for employees and employers.

“For one of our clients, the combination of biometric screenings and health coaching is proving effective across major health metrics: overall health score, weight, BMI, and blood pressure,” she explains. “Biometric screenings provide employees with the data needed to take charge of their health, and our health coaches—all of whom are healthcare professionals (Registered Dietitians, Registered Nurses and Exercise Specialists) and use the data in confidential, one-on-one conversations to help those employees reduce risk factors and improve overall health. These core components are part of a comprehensive wellness program run by Well365.”

This client also has multiple locations for screenings and health coaching with a diverse employee population. Because of the diverse employee population, it became critical for the team to offer flexible health screenings and health coaching options. “We offered onsite biometrics, home test kits and physician lab forms for employees to know their numbers, and also offered onsite, telephonic and virtual coaching opportunities,” adds Trisha. “By using a coaching network that is unified in methodology, as well as providing a dedicated team with expertise in executing wellness, our client was able to able to see significant results.” These transformations included participants with two or more coaching sessions in 2019, lost, on average, 5 pounds between their 2019 and 2020 screening. Participants with three or more coaching sessions in 2019 lost an average of 10 pounds between their 2019 and 2020 17 screenings. Bing Dempewolf, CEO of TAI-CHI Consulting, Best Successful CEOs of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Bing Dempewolf’s ability to understand and dissect the business needs, show how a company or organization can maximize profitability, optimize human capital management, and save money is second to none. Armed with 30+ years of experience in Business and HR, Bing has first-hand knowledge of the difficulties in finding, hiring, motivating, managing, and retaining good employees. Her ability to communicate to all levels of an organization develops instant credibility and trust among the employees. “A company’s greatest asset is their talent so building and retaining that talent will keep an organizations growth on the right track,” she says, and with her unique style of career “options” coaching, desire to “make a difference” in people’s lives, Bing has been taking the company to new heights.

“TAI-CHI Consulting is a full-service HR consulting and staffing firm. We go above and beyond to bridge the gap between companies who need to hire and retain quality talent, and professionals who are looking for career direction and jobs. At TAI-CHI our approach is simple – treat everyone like a person, not a number. We listen, offer great benefits, and most importantly impart knowledge to all people who come through our door. We are especially committed to helping Veterans, disadvantaged workers and those in need of a helping hand with their careers.”

At TAI-CHI, Bing and her team believe that HR is the HEART of the organization. They have based their values on this concept.

– Honesty

– Ethical

– Accountability

– Respect

– Trust

“We instill these values both inside and outside the workplace. It is these values that will empower women into becoming great leaders.” With “People” being her main focus, Bing has worked across many different industries: information technology, hospitality, manufacturing, health, and legal businesses are a few to mention. This gives her a wide-eyed look into how different organizations/industries function and those employees truly are the pillar of the workplace. The task of finding the “right” people for an organization has changed over the years. Loyalties have changed, and workers demand as much from employers as the reverse. Bing bases her approach on proactive, high-energy, and creative solutions to human capital management. Bing’s mother is the reason she has culminated into a steadfast leader. “My mother came to America, and she had to rebuild her life as her nursing license did not transfer to America. She worked extremely hard and as she was working to regain her nursing license, she opened several businesses. She proved to me that if you have the desire to do something that you worked for it,” says Bing. “I have also had some great mentors in my life, Doug Wiley – Senior Executive VP of HR., Phil Thomas, Sales and General Manager and Tom Taylor, Executive Coaching Consultant.” These men have assisted her in navigating successfully through the industry with unique qualities. TAI-CHI provides a variety of HR consulting services for small-to-mid-sized organizations. Small- to mid-sized companies do not have the resources to have a full-time senior or C-suite level HR strategic business partner. TAI-CHI’s HR consultants can respond to tactical human resource needs that clients don’t have the time, expertise, or resources to address effectively. And have the strategic business experience of Bing and other TAI-CHI senior consultants in the background. Additionally, their solutions are highly customized based on individual client needs designed to deliver day-to-day efficiencies and long-term strategic advantages through improved Human Capital Management. According to Bing, the “Human Factor” is often unintentionally lost or becomes secondary when companies search for the best processes and resources. For TAI-CHI, the Human Factor is front and center. Their simplistic approach of treating everyone at every stage like a person and not a number establishes trust, respect, and honesty with all who partner with them. “Our Vision is to provide customized strategic HR solutions for small to medium-sized businesses at a reasonable price. We want to work with organizations to provide daily support and solutions to their Human Capital needs. We truly believe the saying that you have to “be the change that you want to see in the world” – it is what drives us forward. When people have the desire to bring/see any type of change in their community/workplace, we are blessed to have the opportunity to be that change.” IEWL

Susan Flinn Cobian, President and CEO of SFC Group, Best CEOs of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Susan Flinn Cobian is a true force of nature who is initiating change in a historically change-averse industry with SFC Group. After more than 30 years of “working for the man,” she established SFC Group to do things differently and make a true difference for both her clients and the people who work for her. With a unique ability to instantly put people at ease, she makes meetings fun. With a sense of confidence that engenders trust, she easily forges lasting partnerships. And with a steel-trap mind that misses nothing, nothing falls through the cracks. Having worked at a number of agencies throughout her 30-plus year career, including building three agencies from scratch and breathing new life into three others, Susan has learned a lot about what to do and what not to do.

Fittingly founded on Susan’s birthday on September 13, 2018, SFC Group is unlike any other agency in the industry. Dedicated to delivering thoughtful solutions to challenges that span branding, strategy, and creative execution in every channel, SFC Group is an independent, full-service agency that caters to a range of healthcare clients from pharma and diagnostics to health systems and medical device manufacturers. What makes SFC Group truly unique, however, is that it is dedicated to going above and beyond in everything they do.

Susan has always encouraged everyone she works with, but most especially women, to step out of their comfort zone and follow their passions. Susan approaches mentoring with the same drive she approaches everything in her life. She’s a shrewd reader of people who becomes an expert on one’s strengths, weaknesses, and personality type. She gathers all the information she can to come up with a strategy for success and leverages her creativity, honesty, and intuition to make it happen. Most importantly, Susan has a true belief in the abilities of others. She encourages them to push boundaries and think independently. She instills a sense of ownership and accountability that makes them want to go above and beyond. People are exceedingly loyal to Susan and she develops genuine, lifelong friendships due to her “tell it like it is” style. She’s always on call, always in demand, and always available.

When it comes to marketing Susan believes that when media is planned as a whole, you apply a true channel strategy. One that is focused on the customer, ensuring the correct spend level against the right targets for maximum impact and efficiency, all wrapped up with killer creative. The old adage “the medium is the message” is true even in the digital space. How customers ultimately perceive our message is a combination of two symbiotic forces: the message itself (the creative) and how it’s delivered (the channel). Integration of these efforts provides the best opportunity for companies/brands to influence customer attitudes and behaviors.

A good example of influencing attitudes is how SFC Group made the gross not-so-gross. A regional hospital and out-patient system in Indiana wanted to educate people about their risk for developing colorectal cancer and de-stigmatize the conversation about cancer in an embarrassing location. SFC Group developed the “Share a Stool: Start a Movement” campaign, which encouraged people to take a health risk assessment to see if they qualified for a free Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) screening test. Media included high-profile out of home advertising, quirky radio ads featuring poop trivia, a dedicated website and an experiential “Stool Bus” that engaged with members of the community at local events. They even strategically installed brightly painted bar stools in restaurants, cafes, and bars across the city and included bathroom advertising. The campaign was the most successful in the health system’s history.

For 2021 SFC Group is focused on expanding its client roster as well as the team by delivering out-of-the-box solutions to healthcare’s ever-changing challenges. Susan’s approach is simple: make SFC Group the agency everyone wants to work with — employees and clients alike. At the end of the day, SFC Group thrives on challenging conventional thinking and disrupting the status quo. Susan isn’t afraid to think differently about her business or that of her clients. In fact, she prefers to work with people who are dedicated to making a difference by thinking differently. And every last member of the SFC team is committed to having major skin in the game. IE
