Emilia Tomachinska, Managing Director at E-Systems GmbH, Most Inspiring WomenLeaders of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

“One, who cannot control oneself, cannot control others.” Emilia Tomachinska, Managing Director, E-Systems GmbH, believes in this saying and makes sure to always remain disciplined. Emilia’s self-discipline helps her stay on top of her thoughts, emotions, reactions, and behavior, especially in challenging and non-standard situations. Any company is a reflection and a shadow of its leader, and Emilia has become an accomplished and innovative trailblazer. Emilia always organizes her day as efficiently as possible and remembers to smile and maintain a positive attitude, as she knows that her character influences those around her.

Persistence is her key quality. Emilia’s motto is to finish everything started, to strive towards the result on a day-to-day, week-by-week and month-by-month basis and never stop until the goal is reached. Being an ardent traveler, Emilia has the ability to connect with people across cultures and sentiments — all of which inspires her and provides an impetus for new ideas and business development.

Emilia says, “I treat people the way I would want them to treat me, and the other way round: I don’t treat them in ways I wouldn’t like to be treated. It is this attitude that is behind the success of E-Systems GmbH. Being always positive and inspiring, which is especially important in our difficult times, is something that I keep encouraging in people.” At the age of 26, after earning a master’s degree from Leibniz University, she got to work straight away. It was a rocky road to success, yet she learned all the subtleties and aspects of the business. It took Emilia time and considerable effort to become the owner and managing director of E-Systems GmbH, but it was worth every struggle, and she has gained immense experience from the same. “In 2005, the company had only a few clients in Germany, and we are now serving more than 300 clients from 13 countries.”

E-Systems GmbH is focused on long-term customer relationships, its commitment to high work standards in everything and a tailor-made approach to each client. “Our goal is not merely to make a deal and get a profit, but to win our clients by offering them best conditions and support and making sure they keep coming back,” she says. “Our clients are our family. It is extremely difficult to predict the future at this time, but I can confidently say that E-Systems GmbH is adapting to the changing world and coming out with a new product, new unique solutions for its customers and a new approach.”

With almost all countries in lockdown last year, exhibitions were canceled, customers and suppliers were not able to meet, communication was hampered, which negatively affected all of humankind. However, human is a social being and communication is essential. Emilia Tomachinska understands this like no other, and E-Systems GmbH, therefore, supported the idea of Lucien Wijsman, who has gained recognition as a key person in the world’s gambling industry, to hold the Casino Operations Summit (https://www.casinooperationssummit.net) in November 2021 in Riga, where manufacturers and customers will be able to communicate, hear the speakers, exchange news, and finally get together. Liv Vesely, Senior Vice President and Chief Philanthropy Officer of Lehigh Valley Health Network, Most Influential Women Leaders of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Liv Vesely, Senior Vice President and Chief Philanthropy Officer of Lehigh Valley Health Network believes in building philanthropy structures that create bridges between the organization’s strategic plan and the community it serves. Throughout her career, Liv has joined organizations with a solid platform but added a level of organization, methodology and strategy to get them to the next level. “Fundraising is much more than going to lunch and asking for money. It is the combination of strategy, planning and data analysis, along with building sustainable long-term relationships.” she says. “Smaller nonprofits sometimes forget about the analytics and methodology. While large organizations often forget about the relationships that will sustain them. Both are needed for success.”

Over the past several decades, the nonprofit and healthcare industries have seen their workforces become predominantly driven by women. Women are often the decision makers around philanthropic giving and healthcare decisions for their families. “I have found that as a woman leader, it is crucial for me to support, mentor and cultivate the next generation of female leaders,” explains Liv, “As women we need to do a better job of being strong role models and encourage women to be confident in themselves and their skills.”

In her last role at Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, the first woman ever in her role as President, she took a small fledgling foundation and grew it to become a sophisticated development team. When she arrived they were raising $8-10 million a year. Under her leadership and mentorship, the women of the team raised on average more than $40 million a year and continue to exceed expectations. “I am so proud of this team. They are the ones who are keeping the organization thriving and exceeding expectations. A good leader always leaves an organization better off than when they arrived,” says Liv.

For Liv, there have been several great mentors throughout her career who have taught her the value of having an advisor and supporter. One of the most influential, a retired CEO of various international companies, was the best Chairman of the Foundation Board any organization could have asked for, according to Liv. “He has had a long-lasting influence on my growth as a professional. He always encouraged me to look at things from all angles, not just my own perspective. He always said to remember to listen and not always be the one talking.” Simple advice but how often do business leaders stop listening?

Today, Liv is excited about her role at Lehigh Valley Health Network where she is adding the science and strategy to enhance a good relationship-focused structure. “Lehigh Valley Health Network is expanding and building top-notch clinical programs. I know that philanthropy will only continue to help the network expand the clinical services, recruit nationally recognized physicians, provide more life-saving clinical trials, and improve the patient’s experience.”

The Lehigh Valley Health Network is the largest health system in the region (and one of the largest in Pennsylvania) offering the most sophisticated clinical programs in cancer, heart, neurology, and pediatrics (the only Children’s Hospital in the region). People support hospitals because they want the best health care available for their friends and families close to home. “Others give because we saved the life of a loved one. LVHN continues to deliver the best health care for our community and beyond. I am very honored to serve this great organization.” she says.

Liv Vesely was such an impressive woman to interview. Not only is she a strong leader who truly cares about the people and community around her, she wants to help women in any way she can. She also loves to learn – with three graduate degrees from New York University, Columbia University and University of Kent, Canterbury, England, you would think she would be a bit of a “know-it-all.” For Liv she shared that her favorite quote is by Albert Einstein, which has also become her life’s mantra, “The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know’ and this has truly inspired me.” IEWL

Missy Young CIO of Switch, Best CIOs of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Karma guides the culture at Switch. They believe that when you put good energy out into the world; good energy will return back to you. Missy Young, Chief Information Officer of Switch is the embodiment of this philosophy. As a leader in a fast-growing company, Missy has never lost track of this core value. She openly and honestly shares her life experiences, challenges, and successes to inspire those around her. Throughout her career at Switch, she has advocated for the crucial inclusion and expansion of women and minorities in our industry. Missy inspires the youth and the future of the technology workforce whether she is working with teenage engineers to explore their career trajectory through FIRST® Robotics or encouraging the elementary school coder to find their way forward with Hour of Code by Code.org.

“Switch designs, builds and operates the highest-rated data center ecosystems in the world.”

Working under the aegis of Switch’s CEO and Founder, Rob Roy, Missy has transformed into a leader.

“He has consistently challenged me to rise to the next levels of leadership throughout my career, and has unfailingly shown by his own actions what it looks like to walk that walk,” she says. “Rob says that in order to be successful, you have to have a vision for the future and you have to have the will to make it happen. His vision as an innovator and a leader is constantly evolving, and as such, he has fostered in me high levels of positive energy and the ability to pivot on a dime when we find a better way to do something. He works harder than anyone else, which constantly encourages me to do more and to be better. He resolutely challenges all of us to always do the right thing in every situation. His guidance has definitely helped to shape me into the leader I am today, and tomorrow he will teach me something new as he is continually progressing as a leader as well,” she adds.

According to Missy, there is a growing concern among CIOs around the largest cloud providers’ massive power. They believe that offering CIOs the ability to have a truly independent, private, hybrid solution is the key to avoiding vendor lock-in. “That is why we have launched The Fourth Cloud ™, which is the independent private side of the hybrid cloud, powered by Dell,” she explains. “Switch has designed Class 4 resilient edge data centers filled with Dell hardware that can be rapidly deployed anywhere, enabling 5G, low-latency storage and high-performance computing at the edge that will connect back to the customers’ main deployments at the Switch PRIME campuses.”

“Combine our Independence-as-a-Service with the most powerful, resilient, and sustainable data centers in the world, with the ability to purchase telecom globally as part of a $7.6 trillion buying cooperative, and you get the best solution, at the best prices, in the safest places in the country,” states Missy proudly. “And because of our commitment to sustainability, we enable our customers to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. We believe that even though data runs the planet, it shouldn’t ruin the planet. As of 2016, all of our data centers in the US have been powered by 100% clean and renewable energy.” She adds, “There is no reason why the entire internet cannot be sustainably powered if we as leaders choose to make that a reality. I’m very proud that Switch has taken that leadership position so that others can follow our example.”

The company is presently concentrating on designing, building, and operating security robots among other ongoing innovations. Switch SENTRY is a fully autonomous security robot, the cornerstone of the Switch Robotics enterprise-class security platform. Backed with the reliability of 24/7/365 human-in-the-loop monitoring and as-needed piloting, this AI-enhanced security system can navigate the world on its own, remotely tracking, recording, and assessing its environment in real-time. “Not only is it designed in an advanced way to augment the security of all of our facilities, this is a product that we will be offering to the entire world. Switch has a 20-year track record for operating military-level secure environments,” adds Missy. “The Switch SENTRY security platform will bring our security focused innovations to help every industry achieve advanced safety & operational resiliency.” IE

Karraine Moody, CEO at Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity, Best CEOs of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Karraine Moody, CEO at Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity, is an innovative business thinker. She has the gifted ability to analyze potential relationships or engagement opportunities based on balancing her team’s needs, the organization’s capacity, and other sensitive/critical stakeholder partnerships. She plans ahead and is thoughtful and actionable with her efforts. She communicates her steps at appropriate points and recognizes when to engage others in her planning and decision-making. Karraine has a strong vision for the organization. Her passion shines, and she delivers real results. One word to describe Karraine’s ability to engage in strategic and visionary thinking for Habitat is superb. Karraine is one of a kind; she’s a forward thinker, constantly planning for the future of Habitat.

“I am passionate about people and making a difference in my community. I believe that we are all essential to the process. I am dedicated to eliminating substandard housing because it plays a major factor in life’s outcome. With adequate housing, other accomplishments are possible including education attainment, career growth, civic engagement and finally family stability.”

Karraine has first-hand experience being an entrepreneur and knows the need for women to shape their destiny. Early in Karraine’s career, she mentored several young women and offered annual internships. “If I was to give any advice, I would say never give up and continue to pursue/develop every gift that is inside of your wheelhouse.”

Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat was created in 1976 to create homeownership opportunities for the working family that could not access conventional funding. Habitat is giving a hand up at the core of the mission and not a hand out to create affordable homeownership. “Our homeowners are not receiving a free home, but the chance to build stability for their families and community,” says Karraine. Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity has four arms that sustain the mission. “I am leading a construction company, retail social enterprise, family selection/social service and finally a charity. All of these businesses are working under the Habitat model to fulfill the mission. At the core, we are serving the individual, the community and the nation,” she adds.

Karraine is passionate about people and making a difference in her community. “I believe that we are all essential to the process,” she says. “I am dedicated to eliminating substandard housing because it plays a major factor in life’s outcome.” With adequate housing, other accomplishments are possible, including educational attainment, career growth, civic engagement, and finally, family stability. “When we build in a particular town or city, our number one goal is create and/or maintain affordable homeownership. Through our housing programs, we are striving to serve as many families as possible,” adds Karraine. “In some areas, the need is new housing and in others there may be a need to address blighted properties. Our repair program serves the vulnerable populations (elderly, veterans and those with limited mobility) that are seeking to remain in their homes so they can age in place. In all of these programs, the mission is directly impacting homeownership.”

A few years ago, Habitat was challenged to expand its construction standards regarding sustainability. They accepted the challenge and began to research best practices. Through vendor support, the task force worked closely with the construction department to modify their house plans to accommodate solar panels, increase insulation, and build homes that qualify under the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) FORTIFIED program. Habitat’s homes will now be a part of the solution to global warming at the macro level. However, at the micro-level, their homes are now even more affordable for homeowners-so it is a win-win solution. Last year, Habitat’s build was awarded the Housing Innovation Award for being a Zero Energy Ready Home from the U.S. Department of Energy. “Our commitment to sustainability remains; going forward all of our new homes will be zero energy ready!” says Karraine.

In the next year, Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity will be expanding into Tolland County. They look forward to creating programs in Bolton, Ellington, Somers, Stafford, Tolland, Union, and Vernon. “Please to share that we will be changing our name due to this expansion as we seek to serve 50 families annually. With our expansion into Tolland County; we will open another ReStore in that region as well as strengthen our Financial Freedom Center,” adds Karraine. IE

Kathleen Stengel, CEO of NeurAbilities Healthcare, Best Successful CEOs of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Kathleen Stengel, CEO, NeurAbilities Healthcare, is a dynamic and visionary leader who brings both clinical experience and business acumen to the industry. This unique combination of skills has equipped Ms. Stengel to enhance and streamline operations, support clinical excellence, and develop advanced training programs to expand and grow services. Furthermore, she has a unique way of engaging her team, empowering them to lead, and challenging them to innovate. The positive energy and authenticity that Ms. Stengel brings to the role sets her apart in transforming an organization. Staying focused on the mission and vision while embodying the organizational value of “joy” is Ms. Stengel’s formula for success.

As a lifelong advocate for individuals with special needs and their families, Ms. Stengel is passionate about supporting individuals (all individuals she meets) in achieving their goals and finding their joy. This commitment to making a difference in the lives of others is at the heart of the missions and visions for the organizations she leads. She has cultivated a talented and collaborative team by recognizing individuals’ strengths, teaching independence, providing opportunities, and supporting people along the way. Her vision and approach motivate individuals to make positive changes within themselves to grow as leaders, which benefits the industry’s future. Her advice to aspiring women leaders: “Never stop learning how to be better. Stay focused on your mission, cultivate a collaborative team, and keep the joy alive in the face of the challenges that come with leading an organization.”

Ms. Stengel’s role model is her mother, Christine—a single mother who raised three children and worked a full-time job. She worked tirelessly to provide for her children. Christine also demonstrated the importance of living one’s values, being a good person, and following a moral compass. These examples and life lessons have guided Ms. Stengel through her life, personally and professionally, and are at the foundation of her leadership style.

NeurAbilities Healthcare’s story started 15 years ago (formerly The Center for Neurological and Neurodevelopmental Health) and remains steadfast today with a dedication to putting patients first and providing expert, personalized, and comprehensive clinical care, all within one organization. Historically, patients with neurological concerns (i.e., autism, ADHD, seizures, Tourette’s, etc.) had to schedule evaluations with specialists from different organizations and piece together possible diagnoses and treatment solutions. This process caused fragmentation of care, often leading to misdiagnoses, overmedication, and, ultimately, strain on patients and their families. NeurAbilities Healthcare brings together the experts needed to provide evaluation, diagnoses, and treatments for individuals with neurological, behavioral, developmental, and cognitive concerns across the lifespan. Their experts work collaboratively to provide a seamless experience for patients and their families. Ultimately, this unique care model leads to greater success in finding answers to patients’ diagnostic concerns and identifying effective treatment solutions.

NeurAbilities Healthcare is growing and expanding to serve the many people in need, including the rising number of individuals with autism. Twenty years ago, according to the Centers for Disease Control, the prevalence of autism was 1 in 150 individuals. Today, it is 1 in 54 nationwide, and in New Jersey, it is 1 in 32. “We have brought together the experts necessary to provide comprehensive evaluations for neurodevelopmental disorders, find answers, and offer the necessary treatments,” says Ms. Stengel. “Over the past year and a half, NeurAbilities has opened five treatment clinics for children with autism to serve communities across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Over the coming months and years, we will continue to address this growing need by expanding services to provide necessary evaluations and treatments.” IEWL

Maite Salazar CMO of GMAC, Best CMOs of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

Maite Salazar, Chief Marketing Officer at the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), has been fortunate to work in companies operating on a global scale which has elevated her career to a great extent and other important factors. “The variety of experiences gained by me has shaped my operating model as a CMO to focusing on value creation and value extraction,” she explains. “I try to use a scientific approach as a marketeer and believe in measuring, finding patterns, assessing relationships, and building tests and experiments.” She has led several digital transformations. These affected the marketing planning and product design, innovation, operating processes, customer understanding, and organizational culture. “The digital ecosystem offers an infinite number of opportunities, along with more flexibility and velocity than any other channel. However, it also has its traps and requires detailed planning and consideration,” says Salazar.

“The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMACTM), a global, non-profit organization, founded by and serving the leading business schools worldwide, is actively committed to advancing the art and science of admissions.”

According to Salazar, graduate management education has been in the past surprisingly slow in adopting technical and digital solutions. While some of the brightest minds in business teach at business schools how to read the market and take advantage of the opportunities (and changes), these business schools have been operating with a more traditional approach. As online educational programs expand, the speed of change accelerates and the need to gain new skills rises, and the new regions emerging with improved education industry and reputation, business schools have experienced the need to differentiate between recruiting the right candidates and between attracting them to their programs. “COVID-19 has certainly accelerated the pace of change and added more fuel to the change itself. At GMAC, our vision is that in this world, every candidate can benefit from the best business education for him or her,” she adds. “GMAC is well positioned to help business schools with their need to build and engage with a diverse pipeline of candidates, to assist business schools with creating awareness and advocacy towards graduate management education, and to help candidates and schools to discover and evaluate each other.”

On the candidate side, GMAC has provided a set of experiences, tools, and information that help them start, continue and complete their business education journey. This has made them extremely attractive in capturing and influencing the candidate audience. “During their interactions with us, we capture a lot of information insights that help guide candidates in the right direction (e.g., programs or schools that would be a better fit to match their goals, experience or motivations); find more meaningful opportunities to engage with business schools to compare (e.g. events, tours, webinars); and better prepare for their business school experience (e.g. personalized readiness materials, admission test portfolio).”

For schools, in addition to the assessment and testing solutions, GMAC delivers best-in-class industry research that helps them make strategic decisions about their current and future programs. They have access to one of the best and broadest data for business education candidates, which helps keep their finger on the industry’s pulse and make projections about the future. “We also provide them with multiple convening and professional development programs centered around current challenges for professionals and by professionals,” says Salazar. “We work closely with our regional schools to adapt our products and marketing services to their needs and even to their specific requirements as a business school.”

One of GMAC’s current, large projects is related to maximizing their unique competitive advantage as a self-funded association that serves the business school community. Every company has one asset or capability that sets them apart from the rest. Understanding what it is and how to make the most out of it is a very wise choice since you already have credibility in the market. Whether it be cost, technology, customer service, or speed, use it and leverage it. “At the GMAC, we have learnt that our key asset is our relationships with candidates and business schools,” adds Salazar. “This positions us as a key partner as those two groups want to engage with each other. This realization has taught us a new way to think about our products, our non-commercial solutions, and even our technology partnerships.”IE

Pamela Saechow, Founder & CEO of Ellit Groups, Best CEOs of 2021 | IERA Women Leaders

maximios Women

As CEO of Ellit Groups, Pamela Saechow understands many qualities and characteristics necessary to make an individual a good leader – confident, ethical, disciplined, empathetic, decisive. “I embrace and try to demonstrate those qualities on a daily basis. I do believe, however, that inspiration is the most important leadership trait. To inspire a culture of people who always put client success and the patients they serve first. Inspiration, fueled by passion and purpose, is what drives me. It was inspiration and creativity that resulted in founding Ellit Groups,” she says. “Since patients are our most important purpose, we put care into everything we do as if the patient is personal to us, a family member or friend.”

“We are operational leaders with extensive experience in Healthcare IT Solutions, delivering results for more than two decades to private, public and not-for-profit healthcare and life sciences organizations. Together, we bring your vision to life and achieve business efficiencies that will improve your competitive advantage.”

Pamela has always sought to be a mentor and coach to others. “I have had several exceptional mentors throughout the course of my career who guided me. I feel it’s important to give back, and sharing my knowledge and expertise brings me great satisfaction,” she says. “Over the years, I have provided coaching to a multitude of men and women to enhance their business skills, build self-esteem and confidence and expand their social networks to succeed in their chosen field.”

According to Pamela, it is well known that healthcare organizations are currently facing some of the most difficult challenges in their existence. These organizations struggle every day to provide high-quality care, attract the best healthcare talent, contain cost, comply with state and federal regulations, protect patient’s health data from security breaches, expand services for the convenience of their patients and respond to emergent situations as we have faced with the COVID-19 pandemic. Ellit Groups was founded to help healthcare organizations address these challenges. They are forward thinkers ready to respond to issues, anticipate future needs, and craft solutions to address them.

Ellit Group’s mission is to be a leader in bringing together science and art of people, process, technology, and knowledge across Information Systems, Operations, and Vendors. “I seek out the best talent in the healthcare industry to join Ellit Groups. People who possess an entrepreneurial spirit and a relentless passion for delivering quality and doing the right thing for our clients each and every time,” adds Pamela. “We meet routinely to discuss industry trends, regulatory requirements and advances in technology. We then collaborate to refine our roadmap and priorities. We engage in national organizations and with our vast personal networks to stay abreast of what’s on our client’s minds.” With that knowledge, Pamela and her team can continually adjust the solutions to address current problems and proactively plan for the future. “We consistently employ Process Improvement techniques to evaluate our internal operations to stay “Lean,” relevant and efficient.”

On August 3rd, 2020, Brown & Toland Health Clinic went live on Epic’s electronic health record (EHR), following many years on Allscripts’ EHR. Despite a time of heightened social distancing (i.e., in the throes of the global COVID pandemic), Brown & Toland secured Ellit Groups to support their practice leading up to and around go-live. Ellit’s training team met the request – safely and effectively, in person and virtually. “As a senior provider, I’m not very savvy when it comes to new technology. However, I’ve been practicing for 40+ years and take great pride in caring for our patients. It is because of them that I continue in my role. Once Ellit Groups was here, I felt my knowledge and confidence with the system improve. The Ellit staff provided me with a pathway to learn better and develop the skills I needed to be successful and become a proficient user. Within 30 days of my Ellit Training, I now rank in the middle of our group of 24 providers,” says Therese R. Grenchik F.N.P.

Ellit Groups is looking forward to a very bright future. Pamela and her team are visionary and innovative, looking for every opportunity to utilize cutting-edge technology and evidence-based practices to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes. They help organizations transform, ensuring their EHR journeys are focused on opportunities that maximize those investments for their operations and patient centric needs. They see huge opportunities in the areas of Data Management and Analytics – turning big data into useful information; Consumerism – delivering care that’s convenient and more cost-effective for the patient, Telemedicine – virtual visits; Security – protecting the privacy of healthcare information; and technology advances – more high-tech digital devices. “At Ellit Groups we are developing new lines for Data Management and Analytics (including reporting), Security, Downtime Management, Quality Assurance, and Process Improvement among others.” IEWL

Troy Wilkinson CEO of Axiom Cyber Solutions | Industry Era

maximios Women

Troy and Shannon Wilkinson met in Kosovo while working in a peace keeping mission for both the United Nations and the US State Department. Shannon was the Director of Software Development for the UN and Troy was a top cyber diplomat with the US State Department. After starting their family, they moved to Las Vegas and realized the scarcity of resources for small and medium businesses in the cybersecurity field. Most cybersecurity companies were focusing on the large enterprises with very expensive solutions. “What we found was that the average business owner, over 97% of American businesses, fell well below the attention of the larger cybersecurity companies,” says Shannon. Axiom was founded to provide fully managed solutions to that segment.

Axiom leverages the MikroTik chipset and builds their solutions on the RouterOS architecture, allowing them to bring industrial grade packet routing through their proprietary cybersecurity algorithms faster at a far lower cost than other cybersecurity companies.

” Axiom pushes out over 350,000 threat data points each day to each of our customers to keep their systems up to date against the latest cyber threats and vulnerabilities “

The company’s SecureAmerica Threat Defense Platform takes in over 100 open and closed sources of threat data and using machine learning and human guided automation, is able to create real-time updates for the customers. “Axiom pushes out over 350,000 threat data points each day to each of our customers to keep their systems up to date against the latest cyber threats and vulnerabilities,” adds Troy. A great example of this is the recent Equifax breach where they were aware of the Apache Struts vulnerability for months before the breach occurred. All of Axiom’s customers were protected against the Struts vulnerability the day it was announced to the public.

Axiom’s solution to these challenges is simple. Provide everything the business needs to get protected, update it hundreds of times a day, monitor it 24 hours a day, and manage it for the business so that the business owner can do what they do best, which is why they opened their company in the first place. “Axiom becomes an extension of our customer’s IT teams, making them look like heroes. We never want to take work away from the existing IT personnel; we want to protect the business from next generation cyberattacks,” explains Troy. It is pertinent to mention that Axiom is able to offer their services, hardware, software and support for less than the cost of buying the hardware itself.

In addition to Axiom’s proprietary firewall technology, the company offers the entire security fabric for customers depending on the size, scope and depth of their business. Some additional features that they offer include Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), next generation managed antivirus, deception grid technology (honeypots), secure storage and recovery, secure and encrypted PBX phone systems, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, post-breach eradication & remediation, and on-demand reporting for a low monthly subscription.

In an instance, Axiom helped a large private school that had a recent and public ransomware attack. Even though the school had data backups, it took over 8 hours to recover their data. After learning about Axiom’s solution, the school implemented Axiom to protect their network. The installation took less than 5 minutes and Axiom has blocked additional ransomwares that were targeted at the school.

One of the most important features of Axiom’s next generation firewall technology is that it is self-learning and dynamic rather than a static appliance that only “alerts” when events happen. When attacks such as a denial of service or a ransomware attack occur, their defenses take action by not only blocking the activity but also identifying the source of the attack. For the future, Axiom will continue to focus on helping small and medium businesses get the protections they need, as well as fully manage them so that the business can focus on what they do best. “With the launch of our software plugin for threat intelligence, I see Axiom expanding our management and updating of MikroTik devices as a crucial business unit,” says Shannon.

George E. Daddis Jr. PhD. CEO of Omni-id | Industry Era

maximios Women

Today, global companies are increasingly deploying asset management strategies to get the visibility that they need their processes to reduce operational costs, improve profitability and their competitive edge. The implementation is typically RFID based systems – since they are highly cost effective and are an extension of existing processes – not changing them. This has enabled enterprises to better manage, maintain, and track their assets for daily and strategic business management decisions. Omni-ID has been a pioneer of developing and supplying high performance, highly durable, passive & active RFID tags used to improve workflow, asset tracking and management, for Fortune 500 companies around the globe.

Omni-ID views RFID as the simplest (and most cost effective) implementation of the Industrial IoT solutions. In a sense, RFID tags give an identity and provide simple sensors (on occasion) at extremely low cost and high reliability for assets, work in process containers, and other items typically managed in an Industrial IoT system. From a tags perspective, the industry offers such a range in complexity and capabilities of products. For example, Omni-ID’s product roadmap provides smooth increase in complexity in capability and cost from simple labels to their flagship e-paper or View tags which combine visual technologies with multiple RFID radios – wi-fi, 433, UHF, sensors, and user interaction.

Incorporated as a research and development team formed in the 1990s within QinetiQ, an international defense and security technology company Omni-ID was launched as a stand-alone company focused on developing and manufacturing RFID tags for tracking assets in industrial applications. Today the company is the #1 provider and manufacturer of industrial RFID tags and solutions. “Innovation is part of our DNA! As a company born from technology our history of curiosity, innovation, and specializing in the ‘it can’t be done’ applications are what we’re known for,” says George E. Daddis Jr. PhD. President & CEO of Omni-ID.

” We RFID serves in most cases as a simply overlay to existing systems – which makes it highly attractive and non-invasive for most companies to implement “

Omni-ID boasts the widest and broadest portfolio in the industry – from printable on metal RFID labels to encased hard tags with read ranges of up to 30 meters. The company also boasts a family of high temperature tags with heat resistance up to 2350C. A portfolio of active tags for both indoor and outdoor use is also available. NASA is utilizing Omni-ID’s passive RFID products in several locations to track high value laboratory equipment, and most recently is utilizing Omni-ID tags to track the extremely critical and high value components for the new James Webb Space Telescope. “RFID serves in most cases as a simply overlay to existing systems – which makes it highly attractive and non-invasive for most companies to implement.” adds Daddis.

In addition to a broad range of RFID tags, Omni-ID also offers a visual tagging or e-paper system called ProVIEW. The company’s ProVIEW solution is an Industrial IoT-based system and offers paper replacement for material flow management in manufacturing. ProVIEW enables manufacturers to control the instructions and the process flows in real time by creating “smart containers”. These containers are location aware and provide instruction based on their location – this provides a number of benefits by ensuring the right parts are delivered to the right station at the right time.

Omni-ID wants to continue participating in the Industry 4.0/Industrial IoT revolution in a very meaningful way particularly with their ProVIEW material flow management solution and RFID tags for broad industrial use. Omni-ID has found that UHF RFID is still the leading technology for very low-cost identity based sensing and will continue to be a key driver of Industrial IoT adoption. However, there a host of other frequencies and protocols already existing and newly available that help expand product lines to cover increasing and enhanced demands placed on object tags. “We aim at offering our customers the best-in-breed solutions that can make a difference in their productivity.” concludes Daddis.
