Antonella Rubicco of A3Cube | Industry Era

maximios Women

Founded in 2012 by the supercomputing experts Emilio Billi and Antonella Rubicco, A3cube pioneers the transformation from the high-performance computing systems to high performance data systems. The company strongly believes in the importance of providing better equipment to the community to extol the maximum value from all the data collected, this makes A3Cube focused in the development of different complementary technologies that all together can build innovative and market-unique solutions.

The holistic approach that A3Cube takes starting from the analysis of the bottlenecks in the existing hardware in the relationship with the applications architecture was the basis for A3Cube system orchestration. Through their technology, the company can build a system that perfectly fits the application needs maximizing the application performance without needs for special application tuning. The result is that an ordinary server in combination with A3Cube composable infrastructure can achieve the maximum potential outperforming any other equivalent system in the market.

” We combined all the cutting edged features in a single robust product that can fit the needs of any applications “

According to Antonella, founder, president and CEO of A3Cube computing is only two things “data” plus “math” over the data, this simple concept is at the basis of any computation from simple word processing to gaming to the most intense HPC challenges to AI and so on. In HPC system architects are mainly focused on providing fast “math” resulting in faster computing. In the modern data-driven era the “math” is performed over a vast amount of data, so the key is to provide not only fast “math” but also fast “data” access to have the right amount of fuel the “data” to perform the computation at the maximum speed possible. Imagine that a standard modern CPU can perform 800 operations every 100 nanoseconds in other words this means that every 100 nanoseconds that the system wait for a data firms lose 800 transactions. With A3Cube architecture the time for the data is reduced to microseconds making the data access faster and the computation more intensive by increasing the number of operations that the system can run 100 times greater than in standard systems.

A3Cube observed that all the existing storage systems are or were based on traditional NAS or were backed by a parallel or distributed file system specifically designed for an application. And, if one needed to be flexible and combine servers in many different ways, no robust solution could be integrated without pain. Starting from these observations the company decided to invent a brand new way to orchestrate the data access in multiple scenarios using multiple file systems combined and embedded hardware tricks that permits everybody without any specific experience to configure and build robust systems extremely optimized in minutes. “We combined all the cutting edged features in a single robust product that can fit the needs of any applications,” adds Antonella. “We create an infrastructure that is deeply integrated with the network infrastructure, the IO bus of the server and the related attached devices.”

In an instance, one of A3Cube’s customers had the challenge to predict the status of a service in less than 60 seconds analyzing more than one millions of records from multiple sensors per time and performing some mathematical operations on them to decide if the data were valid or not. In the case that the time to analyze the data was higher than 60 seconds, the system considered the data wrong as default, creating a security issue and downtime in the chain. A3ube’s real implementation exceeded the expectation by analyzing the same amount of data in less than 25 seconds permitting to implement a double check and a new series of controls over the data. A3Cube is growing at an unprecedented way and for the road ahead the company is developing new evolutionary products like an AI-driven scanner for materials quality analysis, and the new GRIFO™ for automotive algorithm training.

J. Eric Pike, Chairman & CEO of Pike Corporation | Industry Era

maximios Women

Headquartered in North Carolina, Pike has transformed into a leading, integrated provider of construction, repair and engineering services for distribution and transmission powerlines and substations, with a growing portfolio of turnkey and renewable projects. The company has been designing, connecting, and maintaining this life-critical infrastructure for over 70 years now. “We have become the safest, most technologically savvy, turnkey solutions provider for our customers,” says J. Eric Pike, Chairman and CEO of Pike.

Pike is a results-driven company that has been built on operational excellence and implementation. Whether it’s data insights, or tech-assisted ways of doing things better or faster, the Pike team knows how to take technology and incorporate it into daily operations. “The marriage of innovation and operational excellence is very powerful, especially at the scale at which we maintain our nation’s infrastructure,” explains Mr. Pike or Eric.

” We have become the safest, most technologically savvy, turnkey solutions provider for our customers. “

Pike is one of the largest service providers for energy infrastructure to investor-owned utilities, electric cooperatives, municipalities, communication companies and gas utilities in the United States. Additionally, the company has designed and installed over a gigawatt of solar and wind generation during the last ten years and is actively designing and installing battery storage systems today. One of the great strengths that Pike brings to its customers is the long-standing experience it shares with them, many of whom have partnered with Pike for over 50 years. These relationships have fostered a level of trust in Pike and its ability to consistently find the best solutions for projects, which are not only operationally smart and cost-effective, but are also leading the market in tech savviness.

Pike is investing heavily in technology to provide customers with new products and opportunities, as well as enhanced performance transparency and service. The company’s move to a fully cloud-based back office has helped to increase speed and ensure accuracy, and Pike’s RPA or “BOT” initiatives are reducing costs and improving cycle time for customers. The company has several IoT initiatives in the works as well.

In fact, Pike’s investment in technology spans all facets of its business. “We have invested in Virtual Reality Training for our employees to improve their safety awareness and skill sets in the safest, most realistic training scenarios possible, and we are using advanced telemetrics across our fleet to increase utilization and reduce downtime,” says Mr. Pike or Eric. While engineering and construction companies are not normally thought of in the context of cutting-edge technology, Mr. Pike or Eric believes this is a gross oversight. “We often deploy new technology very early and craft business use cases for technologies that were never even envisioned. For example, most people assume VR to be an entertainment toy. However, when it is combined with very realistic work processes and backed by data analytics, the workforce training opportunities are tremendous,” he explains.

Oftentimes, new technologies fail in the B2B environment – not because of the technology itself – but because the companies adopting them face implementation challenges. Pike, however, is an operations expert, and has been built on delivering successful outcomes. As a result, when the company gets access to actionable data or technology-enabled ways to do things, the positive business impact that it can drive for its customers and internal operations is tremendous.

Today, Pike continues to grow its service territory across the country, including new offices in California and Hawaii. The company will continue to invest in new technology to improve its business and value to the customer. “In the short term, some of the technology-related products that we expect to launch include our suite of virtual reality training experiences, as well as our TEAM business intelligence platform,” adds Mr. Pike or Eric.

Allan Zhang, CEO of Trustlook | Industry Era

maximios Women

Trustlook is a cybersecurity company based in Silicon Valley. Their CEO and co-founder, Allan Zhang, saw an opportunity to do security better during his work at Palo Alto Networks, and worked toward developing a solution that goes beyond the existing security tools available today, and detects and addresses zero-day vulnerabilities and advanced malware.

Trustlook has its roots with the consumer, and has 75 million users across all its security apps. They also power the security for apps with user bases totaling more than 250 million. The success of these early offerings gained the recognition of third-party rating firms, such as AV-TEST, and gave the company faith that its approach to security was better than traditional signature methods.

Today, Trustlook offers products for consumers, app developers, OEMs, systems integrators, and large enterprises. They provide solutions for mobile, the IoT, and network appliances. Essentially, anyone looking to improve the security of an app or computing device can benefit from Trustlook’s technology. The company provides out-of-the-box products that developers or device manufacturers can use immediately. In other cases, a custom build is offered, depending on the requirements of the device and computing environment.

” Our key differentiator is using AI across all of our products. “

According to Trustlook, the biggest issue for many security professionals is keeping up with the increased number of threats. That is why Trustlook focuses extensively on Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the foundation for all their security products. Whether it is a mobile product or an IoT product, the important thing for them is to quickly and intelligently process threat data to improve product performance. ”Our key differentiator is using AI across all of our products,” explains Zhang

Trustlook employs both static and dynamic malware analysis, depending on the product. For example, their mobile security product scans files statically, looking for anomalies. It also performs behavioral analysis by running files in a cloud-based sandboxTrustlook ‘s SECUREai Core product, designed for network appliances and firewalls, is and other harrnful network attacks before they can infiltrate and cause problems. Regardless of which detection method is being employed, all have machine learning and AI at their core.

Paying attention to the needs of the marketplace, and staying nimble, has allowed Trustlook to take advantage of growth opportunities. For instance, Huawei, the globally renowned mobile device maker, was looking for a way to improve the quality and reputation of its app store. It needed to be sure that the apps it featured in the store were safe for its users to download. Huawei had already been using Trustlook ‘s mobile security product in all its smartphones inChina, and through working together, the two companies discovered that Trustlook had this additional capability because of all the apps and data it was collecting. Trustlook productized the solution, now called SECUREai SaaS, and offered it to Huawei. The product scans apps to determine their safety. It generates a report with details on the behaviors and risks associated with an app, and clearly identifies those apps that are safe, and those that are maliciou s, making for a much better experience for Huawei ‘s users.

Going forward, Trustlook is excited about the direction of its network appliance and IoT security offerings. Both segments are perfectly suited for Trustlook ‘s next generation AI-based security approach. Moreover, their IoT security solution is unique, and is in a space that desperately needs to take security seriously.” Those will be the main drivers of growth for Trustlook,” concludes Zhang.

Robert White of Focus Works | Industry Era

maximios Women

Focus Works has succeeded in establishing itself in the marketplace by becoming the “Corporate Standard” of many Blue-Chip Fortune 500 companies. This is due to the strategy of providing targeted (not generic solutions whichdo not require additional 3rd party computer programming), acquiring industry expertise, and providing unheard of 24/7 support. Automated Tools for Batch Control, Lot Tracking, and Food Safety are essential to the success of bakeries and food processing plants. Focus Works provides these essentials. Their products are unique in that they are designed for easy installation and configuration, providing an “out-of-the-box” reliable solution that works. Focus Works products provide hard-dollar savings and short payback periods. From the time inventory is received, product is made through when it is packaged and shipped, it is subjected to possible operator and equipment error—Focus Works looks for these issues and provides specific solutions to eliminate them.

When Kellogg’s—an American multinational food-manufacturing company—production batching system failed and shut down their ingredient batching costing them millions in lost production, the company was at their wits end. They wanted a firm that could assist them fast and provide a reliable solution. The company approached Focus Works—a recognized leader in Production Control & Food Safety software systems for the baking and food industry. Focus Works installed their PRIMS system and helped Kellogg’s achieve 24/7 production of perfect Pop Tarts and Nutra-Grain Bars with no losses. A few years later they asked Focus Works to compete for all of their 32 plants floor production control business against five much larger international companies including GE, Siemens and Rockwell. Focus Works won the business in a unanimous vote because of their system’s reliability, scope of functionality and company’s expertise. This is just one of the many reasons why organizations trust Focus Works

” Focus Works brings its expertise in food production and food safety issues into the solutions they provide. “

Their flagship product, PRIMS is for plant ingredient batch manufacturing allowing the customer to control the entire manufacturing process from receiving ingredients through finished goods. The company was formed by Robert White in 2006 to market software products providing solutions for the baking and food manufacturing industry. Mr. White saw that it was essential to project an image to the customer of a company rooted in software centric solutions pertaining to his industry. The strategy is to provide cost effective systems with an extraordinary Return-on-Investment in a user-friendly, scalable system. “Focus Works brings its expertise in food production and food safety issues into the solutions they provide,” he adds.

“The best reason we can give you why you would pick Focus Works, is that we are not focused on selling hardware or an off the shelf solution as our competitors. We also can supply a company with all of their software requirements, as you can see in our portfolio. And these systems all integrate with each other,” adds Mr. White. Focus Works solutions provide control all the way from receiving ingredients, production processing, through to shipment to the customer and remote warehouses. Their systems eliminate recalls due to product errors, increase production yield, optimize scheduling, reduce batch cycle times, eliminate operator errors, reduce ingredient losses by 95% and achieve perfect product quality every time.

It is their innovation, driven by their working relationship with their customers, that separates Focus Works from their competitors. “You can build a better mouse trap, as my father liked to say but if the customer doesn’t have a mouse problem you won’t have a customer. Better to find out what he needs and supply it to him,” says Mr. White. We have had an unbelievable 1st quarter for 2018. Having already completed the equivalent of last year’s sales. This year we will expand marketing many of our products to 3rd party resellers, system integrators and to Latin America.”

” We provide process automation and seamless integration between every participant in the life insurance and financial services industry and their consumers. “

The focus of iPipeline is providing web-based software tools that drive straight-through processing for the insurance and financial services markets on a global basis. iPipeline has continued to redefine the meaning of straight-through processing over the years for both the life insurance and financial services industry by continually adding new industry innovations. For example, the company has recently launched iGO® Link for life insurance carriers. iGO Link extends the value of carriers’ investments in straight-through processing by allowing them to intelligently digitize paper applications into the iPipeline platform.

Tim believes the future of the industry lies in optimizing the use of data and transforming it into actionable information to maintain competitive positions, better service customers, and achieve growth. iPipeline is committed to providing the power of data analytics to all the customers both now and in the future. In an instance, OneAmerica recently deployed iPipeline’s DocFast e-Delivery solution which has been designed to optimize digital interaction between sellers and their customers. DocFast will initially be used to deliver life insurance policies and related documents based on a collaborative workflow including the insurer, distributor, financial advisor and customer.

Advising the entrepreneurs in the making, Tim says that in order to become successful in business, a CEO must be similarly focused on his game, willing to listen to his team, change his/her mind based on developments in the business landscape, and adjust strategy to secure a solid win. Surrounding yourself with the best talent possible to achieve the best possible results and being frugal about spending, regardless as to how successful or large the company gets is all a few of the tricks of trade. And above all, develop a winning culture, because culture is the backbone of great companies. According to Tim, a company with an outstanding culture will have less employee attrition and be conducive to driving innovation, commitment, and fun throughout the organization.

In 2019, the company will be introducing their Policy Administration System (PAS) to the North American life insurance industry. Their PAS offering is a modern, next-generation system offering tight integrations with legacy platforms and new efficiencies. When combined with other integrated iPipeline solutions, the company can offer customers a comprehensive, straight-through processing platform to simplify and accelerate their new business, PAS, and in-force management activities. “We are excited to bring this new solution to market and are expecting strong demand in 2019,” adds Tim.

After she passed away, I wanted to do something where I was making a difference daily, as I had for Granny. Coaching was it. Although I loved being a Global Director in a Fortune 100 company with responsibility for $500M annual revenues, coaching allows me to make a difference in my clients’ lives daily.”

Wendy specializes in executive and leadership coaching for C-level executives, business owners, and high-potential business professionals. She has a particular affinity for partnering with high potential women and women executives. Wendy offers coaching, workshops and assessments for individuals, teams, and organizations.

As an ICF Master Certified Coach, Wendy Preyssler is in the top 3.9% of credentialed coaches, worldwide. Wendy has also received numerous awards and certifications:

• Best Life Coach (Las Vegas) 2016, 2015, 2014

• Leadership Circle Certified

• Accomplishment Coaching Certified

Wendy Preyssler says, “My intention is to support clients in achieving audacious goals with power, velocity, and ease. Clients rely on me to see what others won’t see and say what others would not dare say. Coaching is about showing up as your best self, realizing when you’re not, and being able to get back to your best self in a hot minute. It’s about being unstoppable so that almost nothing can take you out, and if/when something does, it’s only for an instant. It’s also about self-compassion, acknowledging and appreciating who you are, as opposed to just acknowledging yourself for your accomplishments.”

Wendy envisions a world where people and relationships thrive, and authenticity becomes the norm. Wendy’s goal is to help leaders be their best selves so that their lives, businesses and communities flourish. IEWL
